The police have arrested two people in connection with the brutal murder of social media influencer Ibrahim Khalil at his home in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.
Mr Khalil, who was also known as Danshagamu, was attacked with sharp objects after some hoodlums broke into his house on Monday at 11:30 p.m.
According to a statement from the police command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, officers from the Kumbotso Police Division acted after getting a distress call from the head of the local vigilante group.
"When police arrived at the scene, they rushed the seriously injured victim to Murtala Mohammad Specialist Hospital in Kano for emergency care. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctor," the police said.
Later, an investigation led to the arrest of the two suspects.
"The suspects are now in custody and being interrogated," Mr Kiyawa said.
He added that the police are looking for other people involved in the incident.
"The Kano State Police Command will not back down in its duty to protect lives and property. We promise the good people of Kano that justice will be pursued to the end," the commissioner stated.
In the meantime, he mentioned that police have sent out patrol units and intelligence officers across Gaida and nearby areas to ensure public safety.
