Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has said the state will give strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
The governor stated that the state has already backed Tinubu for another term. He is sure that the President will get a lot of votes from Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa spoke on Tuesday in Akure while sharing food and relief items to people in need. This was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative Social Investment Programme Food Outreach Scheme.
He said, “We have already declared Ondo State for Tinubu 2027 and we remain unwavering in our resolve to deliver en masse in the Sunshine State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term.”
He praised the Renewed Hope Initiative for its goal and hard work in meeting the needs of communities. The people who benefit from this initiative include widows, people with disabilities, the elderly, and youths.
According to the governor, this program shows how the Tinubu administration wants to reduce poverty and help vulnerable Nigerians.
He clarified that the program is more than just food distribution. He called it “a celebration of compassion, solidarity and a shared commitment to improving the lives of the less privileged.”
At the event, the President’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was represented by the Vice President's wife, Hajia Nana Shettima. She said the initiative aims to improve access to healthy food and strengthen community support systems.
She mentioned that the program is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s promise to help vulnerable Nigerians and ensure that children have a chance to thrive.
She explained that the program is supported by two donors who send two truckloads of food items to the Renewed Hope Initiative every month. This allows two states to benefit each month.
“The consignment delivered to Ondo State was provided by the Abdusamad Rabiu Africa Initiative. The Renewed Hope Initiative supports the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It helps Nigerians pursue their dreams no matter their situation, while also tackling food insecurity and malnutrition,” she said.
The First Lady praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to the welfare and development of the people in the state. She also praised the governor’s wife for her hard work in ensuring the success of the Renewed Hope Initiative programs and support for vulnerable groups.
This declaration comes as political activities ramp up ahead of the 2027 elections. Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in many states are openly showing their support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambitions.
Tinubu, who took office on May 29, 2023, has defended his administration’s economic reforms. This includes the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, even with criticisms about the economic hardships these changes have caused.
