New Group Supports Tinubu's 2027 Bid

The Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has started a new political group that supports President Bola Tinubu’s campaign for a second term in 2027.

The group is called the Renewed Hope Labourers Network. It aims to mobilise workers and grassroots supporters in Nigeria’s 176,846 polling units for the president's re-election.

Agbese, who is from Benue State and a member of the Labour Party, is the Founder and Coordinating Director-General of the network.

This launch puts Agbese in charge of a political movement focused on building support for Tinubu beyond traditional party lines before the 2027 elections.

In a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, Agbese said the initiative is based on faith in Tinubu’s economic plans, not political party loyalty.

"We are a people ready to work for President Tinubu across the 176,846 polling units in Nigeria. This is not about party. It is about belief in the leadership and philosophy of President Tinubu."

"Every polling unit in this country is important, and in every one of them, there are labourers who believe in what the president is doing for the nation," Agbese added.

Agbese explained that RHOLAN would mix technology with traditional grassroots efforts to link the presidency with voters at the polling-unit level.

He said the group will use data and online platforms to find, engage, and organize supporters while sharing what they call the achievements of the Tinubu government.

"Our mobilisation and networking will be the first of its kind in the history of this country. We will use technology to connect directly with grassroots people, showcase the President’s achievements in clear and practical terms, and secure the genuine buy-in of the most neglected segments of our society," he stated.

Agbese stressed that the group will not limit its work to state capitals or party offices. He believes political efforts should reach communities where regular Nigerians live and work.

"The ordinary labourer in the market, on the farm, at the construction site and in the informal sector must see and feel the progress," he said.

He pointed out areas like fiscal reforms, infrastructure development, agriculture, power, roads, and social investment as key to creating opportunities for workers and low-income Nigerians.

Agbese acknowledged that some reforms have brought short-term challenges but insisted that continuity is important to allow them to succeed.

"President Tinubu has chosen the difficult but necessary path of resetting the economy so that it can work for the many rather than the few. We believe that when the foundations are made strong, the labourer in the remotest polling unit will eventually feel the difference in his pocket, in his children’s school and in the security of his community," he explained.

The network plans to focus on explaining the government’s reforms to voters while challenging negative views about their long-term benefits.

Agbese said the choice to support Tinubu’s re-election is also to strengthen the reforms already started by the government.

He believes that changing direction during the reform process could weaken the progress made, emphasizing that a second term would help deepen and solidify the policies.

"The reforms, if given the chance to mature, can rewrite the story of the Nigerian labourer. We believe his reforms, if given the chance to mature, will rewrite the story of the Nigerian labourer," he said.

He added that RHOLAN will educate, organize, and mobilise supporters from its Abuja base and through structures set up across the country.

Agbese mentioned that the group’s main goal is to involve grassroots Nigerians in the political process instead of just treating them as voters on election day. "Technology will help us map, engage and organise labourers who have long been treated as voting statistics rather than as partners in national progress," he said.

For Agbese, the focus is on promoting the pro-Tinubu message outside the usual political channels and into the polling units. "We are not here for politics as usual. We are here because we believe in the leadership and philosophy of President Bola Tinubu. From our headquarters in Abuja and through the structures we are building across all 176,846 polling units, RHOLAN will organise, educate and mobilise," he concluded.
