Husband reveals shocking discovery about wife's abuse of their daughter

Ikechukwu Onyeanyusi is the husband of Anulika Onyeanusia, a 36-year-old woman arrested for using a sex toy on her young daughter. He has shared details about the disturbing incident.

PREMIUM TIMES earlier reported that police in Anambra State arrested Mrs Onyeanusia on Friday. This was part of an investigation into child pornography.

The couple lives in Onitsha. Police found sex toys and other items at their home that will help with the ongoing investigation.

They also rescued four children, aged two, three, six, and nine, from the suspect.

‘I never knew’

In a Facebook video posted on Saturday, Mr Onyeanusia said he had no idea his wife was sexually abusing their daughter until just a day before. He learned about it on Thursday evening from a friend who showed him videos of the abuse.

“I saw the video. It was my wife and my daughter. She (my wife) was molesting the child. I got confused and wondered if that was real,” he recalled.

Mr Onyeanusia confronted his wife about the videos. She first denied everything and claimed the clips were made using Artificial Intelligence. He was still checking her claims when police came to arrest them both.

“When they were questioning her at the police station, she admitted to the crime,” he said.

Mr Onyeanusia also mentioned that his wife told the police he did not know what she was doing. “That was when I turned and asked her, ‘Did you really do this?’ and she said, ‘Yes.’

“I got weak. I asked her, ‘How can you do this kind of thing?’ I sat at the police station, confused about the whole thing,” he shared.

Mr Onyeanusia made the video because he knew many people might think he was aware of his wife’s actions. “I am totally disappointed with my wife. I never believed she could do this kind of thing, even to our daughter,” he said.

Prohibited in Nigeria

Sexual exploitation and child pornography are illegal in Nigeria.

Section 32 of the Child Rights Act 2003 makes it clear that sexual abuse and exploitation of children is not allowed in the country. If convicted, offenders can face 14 years in prison, as stated in Section 32(2) of the Act.

Child pornography is banned in Section 17 (1) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition), Enforcement and Administration Act 2015. Section 17(2) includes a punishment of at least seven years in prison and a fine of at least N1 million for those found guilty.

The Cybercrimes Act 2024 also makes child pornography a crime. Many people have been convicted for either child pornography or sexual exploitation of children in Nigeria.
