Troops from the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, working under Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and seized an AK-47 rifle. This happened along the Benin, Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

On Saturday, the army shared the news on its X page. They said the suspect, named Olamide Oyeniyi, was caught on 12 September 2026 in Obaretin Community. This arrest was part of a planned operation to target criminal activities and secure important transport routes.

The soldiers recovered several items from the suspect. These include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, a Tecno mobile phone, two bags, a torch, a music box, and various charms.

The suspect and the items found are now with the troops for further investigation. The army is working to find out if there are any connections to other criminal groups and if he is involved in kidnapping along that route.

The Nigerian Army said it is committed to stopping criminals and keeping communities safe. They aim to protect important transport routes in Edo State by continuing operations with other security agencies.
