The Gombe State Police have confirmed that they found the body of a 28-year-old student from the Federal University Kashere. His name is Enoch Sunday Maisamari and he was discovered in stagnant water at Sabon Garin Yero Village in Akko Local Government Area.
DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, shared this information in a text message on Friday.
He said the police received a report about the incident on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, around 9:30 a.m.
"The Gombe State Police Command received a report on 22nd July, 2026, at about 0930 hours of a recovered motionless body of one Enoch Sunday Maisamari, 28 years, a student of the Federal University Kashere, from stagnant water at Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko LGA," Abdullahi explained.
He added that the body was taken to the General Hospital in Kashere, where doctors confirmed he was dead.
"The victim was evacuated to the General Hospital, Kashere, where he was certified dead. No visible marks of violence were observed on the body. Investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident," the police spokesperson mentioned.
The police said they are working to find out how the student died and asked the public to stay calm as the investigation goes on.
