The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has stopped two shipments of Colorado from the UK and seized more of the drug hidden in music speakers at two bus parks in Lagos.
Several suspects were arrested in connection with these seizures, according to a statement on Sunday from Femi Babafemi, the agency's Director of Media and Advocacy.
In a statement shared with PREMIUM TIMES on Sunday, Babafemi said NDLEA operatives intercepted a shipment at the import shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. This consignment had 27 parcels of Colorado weighing 32.20kg.
The agency reported that Abideen Jide Salami, a real estate agent, was arrested on Wednesday when he came to collect the luggage. Salami had a secret collection code he claimed was sent to him by his brother in the UK.
In another operation, operatives arrested Nurudeen Abiodun Kadiri, 44, after tracing the intended recipient of a UK shipment that contained 12.25kg of Colorado. Kadiri told investigators his brother in the UK sent the consignment to him.
The NDLEA also noted that its Directorate of Operations and General Investigation intercepted a music speaker at a bus park in Maza Maza, Lagos. This speaker contained three packs of Colorado.
The agency stated that the consignment was meant to go to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, before being moved to Liberia. During a sting operation at a nearby eatery, a tour agent named Ifeanyi Obed Augustine, 41, and the alleged owner of the consignment, Obasi Ugochuckwu, 46, were arrested.
At the Iddo motor park, operatives arrested Ifeanyi Nwokolo Henry on Friday. He was allegedly trying to send 2.1kg of Colorado to Kano.
These seizures show that the NDLEA is still working hard against drug trafficking. They also uncovered a hidden lab where Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis, is being produced in a residential area in Lagos.
In August, a 48-year-old businessman, Nwankwo Innocent Onyebuchi, was arrested after liquidating all his assets to pursue quick riches in the drug trade. The agency seized 1.550 kilograms of cocaine cleverly hidden in the side walls and railings of his bag.
In November 2025, the agency revealed that it found a hidden lab producing the drug in Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos. The agency's chairman, Buba Marwa, praised the officers involved in these recent operations. He urged them to continue working to disrupt drug-trafficking routes through airports, seaports, land borders, and inland.
