The African Democratic Congress in Jigawa State has thrown its weight behind its 2027 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. They support his promise to restore fuel subsidy if he wins the presidency.

In a statement signed by the ADC Jigawa State Deputy Chairman, Ambassador Nuraddeen Jidawa, the party shared this news with journalists on Saturday in Dutse, the state capital. They believe this proposal is needed to help ease the economic struggles Nigerians are facing.

The party blamed the current economic crisis on the Federal Government's removal of petrol subsidy in 2023. They pointed out that this decision caused transportation costs, food prices, and the price of other essential goods to rise.

“Given the hardship Nigerians are going through, Atiku’s plan to restore fuel subsidy is timely and people-centred,” the statement said.

Jidawa spoke highly of Atiku, calling him a leader with integrity, maturity, and a wealth of democratic experience. “I am confident that Atiku will fulfil the promises he makes to Nigerians,” he said.

He explained that Atiku’s subsidy plan would focus on providing targeted and accountable support. He added that “the plan would prioritise domestic fuel production to reduce waste and corruption in the system.”

“This shows the ADC’s commitment to finding practical solutions to Nigeria’s economic challenges,” Jidawa said. He urged Nigerians, especially voters across the country, to support ADC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

“This is about rescuing the country from economic hardship, rebuilding our institutions, and restoring hope to Nigerians,” he said.
