The Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Tony Elumelu, has announced that his organization will team up with the Delta State Government to tackle the challenges of electricity generation. The aim is to promote sustainable development in the state.
Mr Elumelu shared this message during his goodwill speech at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 on Monday in Asaba.
He called Delta a place full of great opportunities and encouraged investors to look into its economic possibilities.
He praised the state government for its efforts in boosting investment, development, and economic growth.
Mr Elumelu mentioned that he has been following news about Delta through television and social media. He expressed how impressed he is with the changes happening in the state.
He often sees reports of new estates and projects in Delta and feels proud of his home state. He said, "Sometimes I ask where this is happening, only to realize it is Delta State."
He described Delta as a safe and welcoming place for investors, highlighting that security is key for lasting economic growth.
He stated, "We would like to discuss how we can help or partner with Delta to make electricity generation and distribution affordable and possible."
Looking at the summit theme, "Harnessing Our Strengths, Unlocking Our Potential," Mr Elumelu noted that Delta's strengths lie in its people, resources, and creativity.
He pointed out agriculture, waterways, coastal resources, and mineral deposits as major resources that can uplift the state’s economy.
Mr Elumelu emphasized that the real challenge is not finding resources but effectively carrying out development plans.
He said, "Capital has no regional sentiments and no political loyalty. Capital goes where it is welcomed and stays where it is protected."
He urged investors to invest in Delta, stating that the state has the leadership and opportunities needed for economic growth.
He concluded by saying that recent economic reforms at the federal level have laid a stronger foundation for investment and progress.
