The Cross River State Government has given the Obudu Ranch Resort to Living Curation Real Estate Limited for 25 years.
The News Agency of Nigeria says the agreement was signed on Friday in Calabar. Ededem Ani, the State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, signed for the government.
He mentioned that the deal includes full rehabilitation and development of the resort. Mr Ani called this agreement a milestone in Governor Bassey Otu’s plan for tourism development.
He added that it shows the government’s aim to attract private investment to unlock the state’s tourism potential. This concession will help redevelop Obudu Cattle Ranch Resort, Utanga Safari Lodge, and Bebi Airstrip into top-notch tourism and hospitality spots.
Mr Ani said these places will attract both local and foreign visitors. He also mentioned that the project would boost economic activities in nearby communities through investments, job creation, empowerment programs, and increased business.
Women in these communities will be major beneficiaries, showing the government’s commitment to inclusive economic growth. "The concession is expected to transform these iconic tourism assets into a world-class tourism, hospitality, scientific, eco-tourism, and conservation destination," he said.
This aligns with the governor’s vision to bring back the state’s status as Nigeria’s top tourism destination. Under the agreement, the concession lasts for 25 years, and after that, the improved facilities will return to the state government.
Mr Ani believes this partnership will change the tourism industry in the state and support environmental conservation and sustainable development. A representative from Living Curation Real Estate Limited, Amit Ghosh, thanked Governor Otu for trusting the company.
He promised to create a "world-class" tourism and hospitality destination that matches the administration’s vision.
