The All Progressives Congress has marked the first year of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as its National Chairman. The party praised his leadership for bringing back unity, strengthening party structures, and gearing up for victory in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement on Sunday from the Chairman’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Yusuf Dingyadi, the party said Yilwatda has made the APC more united, disciplined, and ready for the future in just one year.
The statement said Yilwatda took over at a tough time for the party but quickly started rebuilding trust through reconciliation, consultation, and reforms.
The statement noted, “In one year of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda’s leadership, the APC has made great strides in strengthening internal democracy, promoting reconciliation among members, and preparing the party for greater electoral success.
“The National Chairman has adopted an inclusive leadership style that has boosted cooperation within the National Working Committee, party elders, and stakeholders across the country. This has led to more unity and renewed confidence in the party.”
The statement highlighted that bringing back aggrieved members and restoring peace within the party has made the APC stronger nationwide.
It also pointed out reforms at the party’s National Secretariat, noting that processes have become more open, accountable, and efficient under Yilwatda’s leadership.
“Our National Secretariat is now functioning with better efficiency, transparency, and accountability. Party structures at the ward, local government, and state levels have been revitalized to serve our members better,” the statement continued.
The APC said it has broadened its reach by engaging more with youths, women, persons with disabilities, and grassroots supporters, while also strengthening party structures across the country.
The statement linked the party’s growing popularity to the efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the ongoing reforms are starting to show positive results.
“While we see the temporary economic challenges facing Nigerians, we believe that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms are building a strong foundation for sustainable growth, better infrastructure, and shared prosperity,” the statement added.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the party expressed optimism. The progress made under Yilwatda has boosted the APC’s chances in the elections.
“The achievements in the last year have strengthened our resolve to build on these gains. The APC is united, focused, and ready to seek a renewed mandate from Nigerians in 2027,” it further stated.
The party called on Nigerians to keep supporting them, adding, “We urge all well-meaning Nigerians to join hands with the APC as we work towards a stronger, more prosperous, and inclusive nation. Our doors are open to all citizens who share our vision for national development and democratic governance.
