At least sixteen people were rescued after a building fell down at Dan Dishe, Kwanar Yashi in Fagge local government area of Kano state.

Three of those rescued were found unconscious.

Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.

“The Kano State Fire Service wishes to inform the general public that at about 4:32 am today, Saturday, 8 August 2026, our Emergency Response Unit got a call from one of our staff, Aminu Sani Warure, reporting the collapse of a building at Dan Dishe, Kwanar Yashi, Fagge Local Government Area.”

“After receiving the report, our team from the Headquarters was quickly sent to the scene. When they arrived, they found that a residential building of about 20 × 30 ft had collapsed,” the statement said.

The statement mentioned that all the rescued victims were handed over to Usman Ibrahim, their father's brother, for further care.

An investigation is currently ongoing to find out what caused the building to collapse.

“The Kano State Fire Service urges the public to follow all safety rules, especially during the rainy season, to avoid similar incidents,” the statement added.
